Thank you for your honest naming of the complexities of being an educator and the system we work within. I feel this is the evolution of understanding children and learning - swinging from teacher-directed learning to child-led. I notice that in education we tend to swing to extremes before we find the middle path (and unfortunately social media isn't helping as some educators post for the 'clicks'). Thank you for being one of the voices that facilitates this necessary evolution, advocating for children and learning.

oh those desires for clicks... I agree they are not helping. As either it becomes sensationalised and the nuance gets lost, or plain misinformation.

I do think we need to "play" with these different ways of being and doing to find what fits - and where on the spectrum from absolute and dominant dictator at one end to zero power at the other that we want to be.

Because fair play requires a lot of leadership when it is about ALL children participating and not just some. And so that everyone can try on the roles of leader, follower and observer without getting assigned one or stuck in one.

and then we have to do that within the system we work in, where being a kind and understanding and listening dictator is the best we are allowed to be
